Families in Partner with Habitat for Humanity Tri-Cities
Pablina Soto
Pablina is a single mother with two sons still living at home, ages 15 and 8. She has a total of 5 children. The 15 year old son's football coach told him about Habitat for Humanity and encouraged the family to apply. Pablina is a home care provider for the elderly, and spends her days caring for the needs of others. The family currently lives in subsidized housing and they're looking forward to having their own home. Pablina knows that owning her own home will be an investment in her children's future.
John & Dena Fyhr
John and Dena both have disabilities that make daily life a challenge. They currently live in a small rented duplex where noise and near by smokers cause problems. Despite their personal struggles, this wonderful couple is enthusiastic about homeownership. John was recently hired as part time help in our Habitat ReStore, and you can often find him playing his guitar and singing songs he wrote while on break.
Trinidad & Juana Chavez
The Chavez's have 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Both parents work for Chiawana Orchards during the asparagas season. Their eldest son who is 16 is very proud of his new part-time job at a Pasco bakery. Their current neighborhood has some bad influences and is not a safe environment to raise young children. The family is thrilled to be partnering with Habitat to build a new home in a safe location.
Martin & Marceline Razo
The Razo's have 4 children, 3 boys (ages 18, 16, and 3) and one girl (age 12). This family of six currently live in a 3 bedroom apartment with one bathroom. The eldest son sleeps on a couch in the living room. Both parents work for Simplot. Martin is a truck driver and Marceline helps seed and harvest the potatoes. The Razo's look forward to owning their own home and helping to build it as well.
Jose & Silvia Duarte
This family has 3 children, two girls and a boy. The family currently lives in a very old trailer that has signifcant structural damage and other issues. The cost of yearly repairs to the trailer have become unmanageable. Jose has worked at Simplot for many years now as a machine operator, and has many skills to do his own home repair. The oldest daughter looks forward to being closer to their church in Pasco, and being able to attend youth activities there. This family is already hard at work on their sweat equity hours.
Inez & Isabel Antunz
The Antunz' currently live in a mobile home that their family of 7 have outgrown. They have 4 boys and one girl. Both parents are seasonal farm workers and the deteriorating condition of their current living conditions is problematic. With health issues and the cost of medication, a conventional home loan is not an option for them. Partnering with Habitat on owning a home provides a solution to their affordable housing issues.
Melissa Ruelas
Melissa has a 10 year old daughter and twins, a boy and a girl, who are almost 2 years old. This single mom works full time at a drug and alchohol treatment center, and with the expensive of daycare has a hard time making ends meet. The apartment where Melissa currently lives has a lot of gang activity near by, and she looks forward to owning her own home, and having a stable environment for her 3 kids.
Haseena Wahdet
Haseena is a single mom of 3 children. The family lived in Afghanistan where Haseena's husband was killed by the taliban. After spending time in a refugee camp in Pakistan, the family made it to the United States in 2001. The oldest daugher is pursuing a degree in Biology, and the focus on education is apparent with this hardworking family. The Wahdet's are looking forward to owning a place to call home.
